From the beginning our mission has been to bring delicious food and great coffee in a homey atmosphere to the community. Using the freshest ingredients, everything we serve is made daily from scratch, from the sandwiches, salads, homemade dressings, and tempting pastries.

In 2020, the popular restaurant welcomed a new chef-owner, Beverly Drake, from the San Francisco Bay Area. Beverly was  raised in Buena Vista and it is her dream to return to Rockbridge County, own her own restaurant, and cook amazing food. She is a California Culinary School graduate, and her professional experience includes five years cooking with Alice Waters at Berkeley’s Chez Panisse, a leader in the farm-to-table movement. She has also been a private chef for Bay Area clients, including baseball's Barry Bonds.  Beverly prefers fresh, seasonal, locally sourced comfort food that pleases the taste buds.


Blue Sky is committed to being an important part of the community by being socially and environmentally responsible neighbors. We only source from farms and purveyors we trust, keeping pesticides, chemicals, trans fats, and GMOs out of our recipes. We serve fresh fruits and vegetables, and buy organic whenever possible. We are committed to minimizing Blue Sky’s landfill by recycling, composting, and using compostable food containers. As a responsible community member, Blue Sky takes pride in caring for our employees, inspiring them to be their best and grow professionally.
